The Screen Behind the Mirror è un album creato dal gruppo musicale degli Enigma, registrato agli A.R.T. Studios di Ibiza, Spagna, su licenza della Virgin Germany (Virgin Schallplatten GmbH).

Fan degli Enigma affermano che è l'album "più maturo" realizzato da Michael Cretu, mentre la criticha lamenta l'uso eccessivo di pezzi del Carmina Burana di Carl Orff, anche se appare solo in 4 delle 11 tracce dell'album.

MCMXC a.D. è l'album di esordio degli Enigma, uscito nel 1990 ed anticipato dal singolo Sadness, che è subito diventato un succeso mondiale. Nel 1991 è uscita una ristampa (chiamata Limited Edition) che conteneva quattro tracce in più rispetto all'originale dell'anno precedente (remixes di sadeness, mea culpa, principles of lust e the rivers of belief).
