Matthew Barney

Matthew Barney (San Francisco, 25 marzo 1967) è un artista americano che si esprime attraverso opere multimediali, installazioni, scultura, fotografia e disegno. La sua opera più nota è il ciclo di film The Cremaster, che gli è valso il premio Europa 2000 alla 45° Biennale di Venezia nel 1993 e, nel 1996, lo Hugo Boss Prize indetto dal museo Guggenheim.
È noto anche per il suo progetto Drawing Restraint realizzato in parte in collaborazione con la sua fidanzata Björk. La Gladstone Gallery di New York ospita alcune delle opere del progetto, comprese sculture legate alla pellicola, la pellicola stessa e un incompiuto, Drawing Restraint 13: The Instrument of Surrender.
